"Walk-up window open year round!"
One of the questions that we get asked the most at Faneek’s is, what does Faneek’s mean? Well… in short, Faneek's when translated means “Fanatic.” Therefore, we are Coney Island Fanatics aka Faneek’s Coney Island!
Faneek's has been a Fall River staple since 1966. Whether you're craving a Coney Island Hot Dog hot off the grill or some Chili Cheese Fries made to order, you'll always get the freshest ingredients and a friendly smile at Faneek's.
Faneek’s has been family owned and operated since 1979. It is currently owned by Chris and Liz Carpenter. Chris first worked at Faneek’s when he was 11 years old, Grandma and Grandpa Ploude allowed lil’ Chris behind the counter to (inadvertently) teach him about customer service and the restaurant world.
The rest is history.
October 2017 – Present:
Chris and Liz Carpenter take ownership of Faneek’s from Chris’s parents, Bob and Marge. They proudly continue on with the family legacy started nearly 40 years ago by Chris’s grandparents.
2001 – 2017
Robert “Bob” and Marge (Ploude) Carpenter purchase Faneek’s from Dave, Marge’s brother. Bob and Marge continue the renovations and redo the exterior. They also expanded the menu by adding fry-o-lators for French fries, onion rings, and (on Friday’s) Fish and Chips. “Fish Friday” has been a Faneek’s staple ever since.
1993 - 2001
David Ploude purchases Faneek’s from his parents, Al and Alice. During his tenure Dave completely renovated the interior moving the grill and expanding the kitchen.
1979 - 1993
Napolean “Al” and Alice Ploude aquire Faneek’s. Al was working for Essem at the time and was distributing hotdogs to Faneek’s. This begins the Ploude legacy.
1966 - 1979
Tony “Faneek” Fernandes starts Faneek’s at 269 Rhode Island Ave. in Fall River, MA.
